My Trip to Mekanism!

•February 16, 2011 • Leave a Comment

Well, first off by the sound of the name “Mekanism” I thought it would be something that would have to do with machinery. But then, I went on their website and saw a bunch of cool things like mostly funny videos and their background was pretty cool. I was excited to go on this field trip because I thought the inside of the company would look as cool as their website. During some research on the website, I found out that Mekanism did a superbowl commercial about Brisk and the rapper Eminem

During this trip, I saw many things and learned some things. The things that I learned was that they use the same programs as the Digital Safari Academy (DSA) such as In-design and final cut. Also, they use one program that we don’t which is called maya and it is an animation program. Also, that this company works with other companies like EA sports, Nike, Toyota, and many more and help develop commercials and advertise them. During our tour I saw that they use macs and was an open environment like our computer lab. It was amazing how they have a food storage almost everywhere and was filled with breakfast and lots of junk food. I really enjoyed this trip and hope we get to go on another one soon and more next year!

Legacy of Imperialism

Just yesterday, we had a competition to get funded for our country plans. During this day, as groups went by I got more nervous. By the time my group and I went up my nervousness went away. Unfortunately one of our group members did not make it. Even though our group did not get funded we still had fun. This year I had way more fun than last year. The Digital Safari is awesome. I’d like to thank my group members Ronnel, Elizabeth, and Lupe because they were great members. I’d also like to thank all the DSA teachers for helping us when we struggled. I hope more challenging things come to me as year come by in the DSA.

Thanks for doing the best we can guys!

My Trip To KTVU

•April 20, 2010 • Leave a Comment

Just recently, my fellow classmates, teachers, and I went to three different place. Some went to KQED, KTVU, and Beyond Pix. I went to KTVU  and it was pretty interesting. I learned all about the workers and some of the similar things that they said was that they all had an intership. KTVU does a lot of things like have their own commercials and their own channel.

During my visit, some things that I found interesting was that the cameras were robotic. I thought there would be a big crew moving cameras around. The green screen for the weather is pretty cool. It shows the map in front of the weather man and to his left and right. The news person has to proof read his/her script every time they go on live. My group and I got to watch Tori Campbell go live and she did pretty awesome! What surprised me was that I thought I would never see a news cast go live before in person. I wish I could go back and see the whole thing. Some day I hope to get an internship at KTVU.

All the stories I’ve heard was that they had some multimedia experience somewhere in their career. KTVU staff always has to keep up with the latest technology. I would like to work for them someday in life. The staff seems to like their job and seems fun. Visiting KTVU, people there had different duties and responsibilities.

My UC Berkeley Trip

My Trip To UC Berkeley

Just recently, I went to Uc Berkeley with my fellow DSA class and Teachers. To me Berkeley hasn’t changed since I went there during my seventh grade year. We didn’t have a tour guide back then so the teachers and the chaperones just went on your own and explored the campus. Now that I’ve gone back, I’ve seen a lot and learned a lot. This college makes me feel like I want to go there.

When I went this time we had a tour guide. I was pretty surprised about what he told us about Berkeley. He talked about this program called “DECAL” and that how students get to teach classes instead of teachers teaching. Also, what surprised me was that when we go to college some of the classes may have 800 students or more and that could be kind of scary. 21-25% of applicants get accepted. UC Berkeley has over 350 majors and 10 million books. What I didn’t expect was to write a personal essay that has 1000 words. I thought we could just take our SATs, ACTs and see if we get accepted into a college

In conclusion, having a tour guide around any college could be fun. I learn a lot of like how a guy build a big tower and is bury in front of it. It is really hard to get into a good school like UC Berkeley. Take the Sats as soon as possible and take them more than once. Also, ask lots of questions and have good grades.

My First Semester In The Digital Safari!!

•January 29, 2010 • Leave a Comment

My first semester in the Digital Safari was awesome! At first it was super easy peezy lemon squeezy! During the 1st and 2nd quarter we Learned photoshop and it was difficult at first, but as days went by in class it got easier. We learned how to fix old pictures, mask other things, use the clone tool to clone something, and had a couple of assignments. Couple of challenges were taking good pictures. I sucked at taking pictures at good angles because it was hard getting down and the perfect lighting was even harder because when I was taking pictures it was mostly cloudy. We also had to make like albums and a triptych.

During the 3rd and 4th quarter we had the HOOF project, I didn’t know what to do. I thought I wasn’t even going to finish! The pictures were hard getting and putting them in the right order. Also, I procrastinated a lot until the last couple of days it was due. But atleast I finished and I’m proud of that. AND then OMG Bryce came along. I thought it was going to be fun just like photoshop. But over all, Bryce is pretty cool. Like how you get to see what you created and edit everything like the fog, sun, and the water. You could even make an alien looking background.

I chose these three pictures because I like Gurpreet’s faces in all of them! Doesn’t it want to make you laugh? The tools i used was masking, clone tool, curves, and the brightness. I think the second picture I over did it. But the other two I think I did really good.
